I'm a teacher and I work in a prestigious school. I`ve tought english since 7 years ago. I've never traveled the other country. I've studied and learnt english here in Colombia.
In our school there are 8 teachers. The english department always have been reflecting in the needs and aspirations of our students. To approach real english expressions and improving teaching english pronunciation the teacher suggested school to bring native teachers.
Nowadays we have 2 native teachers. It's a big opportunity for us to practice but they aren't really english teachers. They have studied others careers. They don't know teaching methods. They have an excellent communicative competence for their native condition.
¿Would I teach spanish in another country if I weren't teacher?
¿Could our students supply their needs?

Hi dear David!!!
I was reading your blog comments and the question you did it's really true ' cause I am sure we can't be teachers in other country without any high educational level, pedagogical experience and many papers to support our profession ...you were right..
talk to you soon...
Hola!
Bye!
Hi David,
I wrote somewhere else that two main competences English teachers must have are the language and the pedagogy to teach it (Miranda: 2003). Being able to use the language, no matter how competent you are, is never enough. You need to understand the language learning process and make decisions about your teaching accordingly.
